Lebanese spinach Mini pies

This recipe makes a great appetizer for Ramadan tables.

Ingredients
  

For the Dough:

  • 5 Cups of all purpose flour
  • 5 teaspoons of milk powder
  • 1 Pinch of salt
  • 1 Pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 3 Teaspoons of yeast
  • 3/4 Cup of oil
  • 1 to 1 1/2 Cups of water, to need

For the filling:

  • 1 Bunch of finely minced meat
  • 1 Medium finely chopped onion
  • 1 Pinch of salt
  • 1 Pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1 Pinch of sumac
  • 1 Cup of finely chopped walnuts
  • 1 Tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 Teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 3 Tablespoons of pomegranate molasses

Instructions
 

  • Start preparing the dough; and to do that mix the dough ingredients and knead it with warm water, you need about a cup of water
  • Leave the dough in a warm place after covering it and let it to rise for an hour
  • Meanwhile, prepare the filling, chop and wash the spinach, then put it in a colander and sprinkle it with salt until it wilts
  • Put a tablespoon of olive oil in a saucepan, stir the chopped onions, season with the salt, the pepper and the sumac, then remove the onions from the heat and add in the spinach, the walnuts, the pomegranate molasses and the lemon juice
  • Form the pies in a triangular shape and bake in a preheated oven for about 15 to 20 minutes
  • Serve hot and enjoy the wonderful taste of these spinach mini pies!
